About COBC
The Caribbean Open Blokart Championships has been discussed for some time but when Dave Lussier offered his help to bring the plans to fruition, the idea became a reality.
With the generous support and encouragement of INDEBON, the Bonaire government sports entity, we are pleased to announce we’re ready to receive blokart competitors to our island paradise in February 2024.
We will be extending the invitation to our windy Caribbean neighbours to host future events.
Ideally, the fantastic sailing venues of the Caribbean, will become an annual destination for blokart sailors to meet and escape the chilly northern winter.

Venue
The venue for this event is the sports fields at Tras di Montaña in Bonaire. COBC has a permit for use of the area for the dates of February 18-24, 2024.
Tras di Montaña was the site of Bonaire’s first airstrip. It is unsealed, but flat and perfectly situated with unobstructed access to the wind from the east. It is currently being used for baseball and soccer.
Conveniently located along the road between Kralendijk and Rincon, it is about a 5-10 minute drive from the center of town.
Wind and Weather
Wind speed average on Bonaire in February is expected about 15 knots, possibly gusting to 23 knots.
Temperature doesn’t vary much 26 deg C to 28 deg C (78 – 82 deg F). Bring your sun screen!
Series Format
The racing event will consist of a minimum of six (6) races in each division.
The event will be complete when:
- Each class has completed 15 or more races at the end of racing Friday, February 23rd.
- If racing continues Saturday, February 24th, the event will end when each class has completed 15 races, or at the end of racing for the day (as determined by Race-Committee).
Fun events such as open sailing, Poker Runs, practice racing, and Enduro Challenges may be organised during the event depending on the desires of the participants.
Rules
Racing shall be governed by the rules published by the International Blokart Racing Association (IBRA) Rules, Edition 9 (effective 1 January, 2024), with modifications published in the Sailing Instructions, announced at the Morning Skippers Meeting, and/or by Announcement at the Starting Line before the dial-up begins.
The current rules for 2023 can be found here (only minor changes expected for 2024).
